Global Covid-19 Vaccination Update: 3 February 2021

The following slideshow shows how the world vaccination programme is progressing both in terms of the number of vaccines administered and the count per 100 within each population. There are a range of other measures presented.
While encouraging progress is being made in many parts of the world, it is notable that effective vaccination is still to start in most of the African continent. This is of concern due to the limited resources, challenging logistics and governance issues in many of these countries. There remain huge challenges in ensuring that enough vaccines are produced and distributed to these countries; to be administered equitably to as many vulnerable groups as possible in the shortest possible time.
It is true that Australia and New Zealand are also some way behind in terms of vaccination. However, these developed countries currently have very effective control and track-and-trace systems that have managed to keep infection rates low, especially in New Zealand.
